Apple continued to defend their iPhone 4 by showing more evidence of how all smartphones struggle with reception issues when held a certain way. Whether you buy it or not, they do seem to be beating a dead horse. If I were Apple, I’d move on. This is a no-win situation.

The longer this stays in the public arena, the longer this will be an issue people think about. Apple has a very strong brand, and it will survive this blip. Yes, I call it a blip because the reception issue isn’t the same for everyone, and the phone is a phenomenal device. With the recent start of the free case program, the issue should no longer be such a big deal.

This is why Apple should let it go. Other handset makers will continue to trade barbs, but they’ll have to work a lot harder to make a better device.

Finally! The wait is over. Last Thursday I was among the estimated 1.7 million people buying an iPhone. I even had to wait in line for 7 hours, despite the fact that I had a reservation for one. Regardless, I’m thrilled with the with this version of Apple’s most popular device.

It isn’t without it’s flaws, however. One being the multi-tasking. While iPhone owners have been crowing about getting this feature since the first edition of the device, it isn’t perfect. You have to quit each application in order to stop the process from running in the background. Otherwise, you run the risk of having your battery run down faster.

Also, there is the issue of the antenna embedded in the metal band that surrounds the sides of the phone. If you hold it on the bottom left corner, your reception is effected.

Despite the negatives, iPhone 4 is another triumph for Apple. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. I did a side by side comparison with my old iPhone 3G, and the difference was amazing. I couldn’t believe it was that much better. Also, the video camera shoots 720p HD video. It looks good, and will come in handy.

If you don’t have one yet, I encourage you to get one. You’ll be glad you did.
